Dishonest
I really should have learned my lesson by now. It’s just that they are the only Hyundai dealer less than an hour away. I get ripped off every time I am there. They lie to you, sloppy work, long wait times and over charged.

Incompetent
These people are severely incompetent - they told us we were going to get a loaner car because our car will be in the shop for who knows how long- but they are acting like they’ve never given a loaner car out before- everyday they tell us “we need this document then we will call tomorrow” they never call so we have to call and go through the whole thing again with someone. Then that person says “ok we will get this handled and call tomorrow”. No one calls snd when we do get ahold of them they tell us they need another document- it just goes on for weeks- still no loaner car- this place needs to be shut down.

Murdock has lost there way.
Hello I just heard that Mr. Shawn Miller is no longer there. after asking around of what happened, I'm realizing that Murdock is pretty weak in how they handle there employees and certain "HR" reports that they're handling is very unprofessional, lazy and uncaring of there employees lively hood and lives. Cant believe they do him wrong like that. Sounds to me they need to let there HR person go and hire someone that'll not wreck a company, cause they sure did firing Shawn. I've Known Shawn for awhile now and he's been the best manager that I have ever dealt with in all of my existence of servicing my vehicle. I feel that since the old owners have left that the Murdock brand has been slowly loosing there way. Now that Shawn was the heart of the service, this has made my decision to not go back to Murdock for anything. Sad to see Murdock's do these wrongful decisions. Wish Murdock's would go back to old ways which was being caring, forgiving and understanding. I guess Murdock's are all about being greedy and quitting on there actual good people that are loyal to them. integrity is lost. Loyalty is lost. they have lost there way. hope that one day they can get back to what matters. hope and pray for Shawn in his search for something meaningful and good. good Bye forever.

Poor Workmanship, Clear Disrespect for customer, unnecessary repairs
Went in for an engine replacement under warranty, upon getting my car back I had a misfire. They recommended me engine mounts, even though that doesn't cause a misfire, but they stated they were able to recreate that issue. Obviously that didn't fix the issue, and when I got my car back they had left off parts of the engine and lost them, to which I had to wait even longer for them to replace it. Fixed the issue myself by taking a couple minutes to inspect my ignition coils and injectors and found they were worn. I ended up paying $600 for a phony repair. Along with this, I reviewed my dash cam footage while they were using the car and overheard them bragging about overcharging customers for engine mounts, and bragged about getting me to approve the phony repair. They spent less than a minute trying to discover the problem before simply stating the engine mounts were bad. Horrible experience.

I was robbed, as purchase & (mainly at) service
My time with Murdock Hyundai has convinced me that their idea of good customer service is when they have gotten the most money possible out of the customer. All the people are very pleasant and personable, and it appears to me the greed is a function of the dealership policy rather than any individuals I dealt with. Their service department was traumatic; uninformative (explanations were vague to non-existent, and they were willing to ignore the warranty they sold me) and inefficient (I took the car they sold me in 6 times to deal with one incident). I never, ever, felt they were looking out for my best interests as a customer, from Sales to Service, in two different locations of this dealership.
In November of 2023, they sold me a 2014 MINI Cooper Countryman. Because it was not the vehicle I had anticipated, I had not done my homework, and I believed him when he said it was it was priced fairly. I paid $13,000 out-the-door, and an additional $3,000 for a warranty. I later found that Edmunds gave its trade-in value then at $5,900 – a heavy mark-up for them.
February 5th, 2024, (1,363 miles & 67 days after purchase), as I was pulling out of the garage a family member discovered considerable pool of oil on the floor, clearly accumulating for some time, undiscovered by me. The first thing Service asked of me was when I had the oil changed last, as there was a problem with the oil pan drain plug. I replied I had not owned the car long enough to have touched anything since purchase. They went away for a long time. Later their conclusion was that it was leaking oil due to an ill-fitting oil pan plug, and they couldn’t tell where else it might be leaking as well. They vigorously denied any responsibility since it was more than 30 days after purchase, and charged me $332.42 to perform a dye test to locate the problem. I was told to bring it back in, in approximately 6 weeks.
March 18th, I took it back in. They said repairs would cost a hair under $9,000 (70% of what I’d paid for the car). I asked what was wrong, got technobabble, asked them to simplify their description and was told “3 gaskets”. They immediately wanted to schedule the repairs. In shock, I did not do so at that time. I wasn’t given a paper copy of the estimate, and asked to be esent a copy.
The next day it occurred to me that I had purchased a warranty, so I phoned in to ask if this would not apply? (The Warranty they had sold me was clearly in their computer profile on this car, but they had not mentioned it.) They asked me to come in for pictures for the warranty coverage submission. While there, I asked a second time for a paper copy of the estimate and this time was given an estimate for under $8,000. I asked, but the Service rep. said he had no explanation for the discrepancy.
March 25th, I was asked to bring it in for more pictures, as their initial set was insufficient.
March 28th, took it in a third time for pictures, before they could submit it for warranty consideration.
April 1st, I was informed the warranty approved coverage, but only for after-market parts, took the car in and got a loaner; I told them to go ahead. I explored the possibility of trading it in for a different car, and was told, firmly, that the most they would allow for trade-in on the MINI was $3,000. At this point it had been four months and only 2,000 miles since I bought it from them with a sales price of a little over $11,000.
April 9th, work was completed & I picked up the MINI. The final invoice reported $2,945.18 for repairs (not $8,900). I paid another $345.67 for warranty fee and taxes.
BOTTOM LINE: I spent $16,000 four months ago, another $700 along the way, and four months later am left with a car having a current trade-in value of $5,500 (according to Edmunds). I feel very ripped off, a fool for trusting them.

Oil change gone wrong
Went in for an oil change as they are free w my warranty and 3hrs later leave and 10 mins away I end up stranded on the HWY and Guess what there is not a drop a oil in My car. Everything seized up and at 70mph it stopped no warning. Sad thing is we have had this happen to our car and our SUV at this same location. Another engine ruined. They say it's due to an engine flush? I am no mechanic but this sounds like BS

Dont purchase the warranty for dents and dings!
Murdock is a great dealership. We are on our 4th Hyundai, three of them purchased at Murdock Lindon. This last time we paid a lot of money for a warranty that would cover among other things dents and dings. Most of the people at Murdock have no idea what this insurance is or how it works! Very frustrating! We have a vehicle in now for a dent and find out that there is limit on how much is paid toward the repair, there is nothing like that stated in the policy! Because this particular dent is in a "crease" it costs more and policy doesn't cover it. Save yourself a lot of aggravation and grief and save your money! Buy from the dealer, just don't pay for wasted extended coverage on the vehicle!!!

Went in for service and received horrible customer service
I'm sorely disappointed in how I was treated as a customer at Murdock Hyundai of Lindon, and the service I received. I called with a problem with my car shaking due to a misfiring cylinder, and was told they were well over a month out for repairs. When I finally got the car in for service, I received awful customer service: I was told it wasn't possible to receive a loaner vehicle, as the queue was over 20 people long, I received skepticism when asked to verify the problems with the vehicle, was told two different things over the phone versus on paper, my family went to pick up the vehicle and received horrible customer service, and after taking the vehicle to a shop I've gone to for over 20 years (which they at the dealership spoke very poorly of) found more issues they neglected to inform me while talking to them. This dealership cares very little for their customer base, and seems only interested in getting you in a vehicle, and out the door. If that's all you're looking for in a dealership, this is the one for you, but if you're looking to be taken care of after spending tens of thousands of dollars, I'd look elsewhere.

3 hours for complimentary oil change
We’ve purchased several cars through Murdock, Hyundai, both in Lindon and Logan. I have to say I am surprised each time I go to get my car serviced with the complementary oil changes and tire rotations at how poor my experience is. The last time I took my Tucson hybrid in to get the service, they tried to tell me all upsell me other services I needed as well, one of which I knew very well did not need to be done for another 10,000 miles because I had a hybrid. How can a service attendant not know that? Today I took our Kona in and learned a lesson: tell them you’re going to wait for the vehicle, even if you’re not. I’m assuming that’s the reason it took them three hours to get the simple service done. I actually had an appointment at 10:30 AM for the service and wasn’t able to get my car until 1:45 PM. There was no apology, or even the slightest hint of embarrassment at the inconvenience it caused me. I always get the impression that none of the employees there worry about being let go. Customer service really needs help in the “service” department.
