2021 KONA ULTIMATE: My best car, ever
So, I used to think that my 2013 Boston Red Veloster was my best car ever, and my heart was broken when it was rear-ended and totalled (thankfully, no injuries)...however, given the pothole situation in eastern Massachusetts, and the low ride of the Veloster, I decided to go up, literally, to a higher-sitting Kona as a replacement. Really, really liked the 2018 Kona, but I played it economical, with the standard trim. Given the way drivers started conducting themselves on the roads during the start of the pandemic (No cars! Let's drive 90 mph regardless of speed limits!!), I started feeling that not having some of the driver assists available in the higher level trims would not only be nice but would make me feel safer. And...with my very lovely albeit conservative Thunder Gray car, I did find myself lusting after the Surf Blue that occasionally popped up in my line of sight. So...with not a lot of miles on my 2018 Kona, I just noodled the idea of a trade-in for a newer Kona with my very favorite McGovern Hyundai sales guy, Colson Pierre. And - wham! - I found myself in a Surf Blue 2021 Kona Ultimate. How much do I love this car? I LOVE this car. It has all the bells and whistles one could want, the safety features are terrific, the Turbo engine is sweet, and the color is a head-turner! I still find myself looking at Velosters that pass me, but with AWD and the ability to drive over potholes that would formerly have knocked my teeth out, I am ecstatically happy with the Ultimate Kona! Perfect size (still fits into compact spots); super comfortable to drive; good on gas; and FUN!
